FUKURA - MANEKI NEKO SHAMUNEKO
Located in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, Neos manufactures "Fukura" and communicates around its designs with the slogan "moving designs".
The "Fukura" products were developed in 2017 as part of the "Hyakunen Monogatari" project, which aims to make Japanese interior design suitable for modern lifestyles by adding the element of design to traditional techniques and precious local resources.
Featuring a comfortable design that blends elegantly into the space, the Fukuras aim to establish a harmonious living environment in which to live serenely.
Fukura" is a traditional Japanese decorative element made of molded Japanese paper, which serves both as a wall decoration and as a pouch for small accessories. Fukuras are made from Oguni-washi paper from Nagaoka City in Niigata Prefecture, a paper with a specific craft production that has been designated as an Intangible Cultural Property since 1974.
The paper is made entirely from paper mulberry, whose long fibers give it its strength. This paper, which has become an object in relief, can be used as wall decoration, accessory case and pouch. You can choose between traditional Japanese patterns and modern patterns according to your taste.
In addition to their charming design, these products are some of Nagaoka's treasures.
Series on cats.
In the past, cats were considered lucky charms that prevented mice from eating vital foods such as grains, but also other precious items such as silkworms and parchments. Among the cats that wave, the one with his right hand raised is supposed to bring fortune, and the one with his left hand raised invites people to visit you.
