A traditionally made fragrant bancha green tea with the addition of Koshihikari brown rice from Niigata Prefecture. Mixed in almost equal proportions, these two ingredients prevent bitterness, even when the tea is brewed in hot water. Matcha lovers will be won over by the bright blue-green colour of the added Uji matcha – considered the pearl of matcha tea – as well as its smooth, mellow taste. Low in caffeine, this brown rice tea is recommended for everyone, even children, to enjoy the nutritional benefits of brown rice.
This type of bag allows you to enjoy the full flavour and dense aromas as if the tea had been brewed in a teapot, with no loss of intensity until the third infusion.
Good to know: prepared from the youngest tea leaves, Uji matcha is so named because it comes from the town of Uji, near Kyoto. The town is famous for its tea mainly because of its climate combining hot sunny summers and very cold winters, which guarantees the growth of the best quality green tea leaves.
About Yamajien
Established in 1931, Yamajien specialises in Japanese tea, particularly hojicha, their flagship product, which they roast themselves using an old-fashioned roasting machine that roasts the tea leaves over a gas fire, filling the shop with a sweet, fragrant aroma. The number of shops using gas roasters has tended to decline recently due to the small amount of tea that can be produced at one time, but the Yamajien shop insists on continuing to use them, not only because they allow for a deep and thorough roasting, but also because they allow the condition of the tea leaves to be checked by eye and tongue every time. Carefully crafted by artisans, Yamajien’s hojicha tea has had its share of regular customers for many years, thanks to its strong roasted aroma and taste. In addition, the company has recently developed original tea bags to attract more consumers, and is working to spread the word about this tea around the world.
