A tasting choko traditionally called ‘kiki choko’ with the logo of Kinasé. The shape is standard, so you will often find exactly the same type of choko in sake breweries, with the producer’s logo. Collecting them is a good way to remember the breweries you visited during your stay in Japan!
Because it is used for tasting, the interior features the ‘snake’s eye’ (janome), these 2 characteristic blue concentric circles. But the white part of the pattern is not to be neglected: the blue circles serve to evaluate the transparency of the sake, while the white surfaces around and inside these circles serve to estimate the degree of colouring of the sake.
This choko was made for Kinasé by a ceramist specialising in sake vessels.
