The Kondo brewery

Kondo Shuzo was founded in 1865 in the city of Gosen, which owes its name to its 5 thermal springs, making it the ideal place to brew sake using the purest water. The house has been run for 8 generations in accordance with its motto "choose the best water, choose the best rice". Water is pumped in January, 9 days after the beginning of mid-winter, in a ceremony called "Suganatake kanku no mizukumi". The company produces in particular the sake "Koshinokaroku", whose famous gastronomic manga "Oishimbo" praised the agreement with the snails cooked in the French style.
